August 17-21
We were away this week, so I don’t know what day things were done, but over the course of this week:
The pantry shelving, lazy susans and pull out vegetable baskets were installed.
Kitchen vent hood shroud (the cylinder going up the wall) came back from the metal fabricator but won’t fit smoothly around the underlying mechanical pieces. It isn’t not, apparently, the pressure switch for the makeup air damper that is causing things not to fit.
The dishwasher air gap was installed so the dishwasher should be functional again – needs to be run and checked by Westhill before we use it. I’d have thought beforehand I’d be in a huge hurry to use this again, but I’m not.
Faucets were installed in the master bathroom sink
Black glass media and LED lights installed in bonus room fireplace. The bookcase insert install was started.
Upstairs network outlets connected. Speaker wire in bonus room for front left/right speakers is short and coming out of the side of the fireplace instead of in the corners of the room. Quite clearly shown on the plan I did, and they could have texted me to ask (as they did about something else. No outlet plate for the wire, just a hole in the drywall. And the wire’s neon lime green, so no one will see it.
A/v cabinet shelves aren’t right either. Top shelf won’t go where the vertical and angled walls meet (because of where the holes are) and there’s no second shelf.
Under eaves storage areas got shelves one end (the exterior wall) but not the other, written plans notwithstanding.
Master bathroom closet had the full length hanging areas (one either end) installed.
The light fixtures I had to hastily order after the electrical subcontractor said they weren’t providing them were installed: master bathroom sconce and above sink; bonus room ceiling; bottom of back stairs, above the bar in the kitchen and in the downstairs half bathroom
The heated floor was turned back on and the project manager reported that it appeared to be working with no GFCI faults. I said that the floor was cold to walk on so I’d check the programming to be sure it was set as it had been before it was turned off. It was, but the actual floor temperature wasn’t changing to match what the program said it was set for. My guess is that there were no GFCI faults because the heating isn’t working at all, even though the thermostat is fine.
